Matter and energy
The Law of Conservation of Matter states that matter can't be created nor destroyed. This is true about matter, but when it comes to energy its mainly the opposite. Energy can be created, and destroyed, or discontinued by an opposing force (energy).

Matter can be in the form of a Solid, Liquid, or Gas.
Whenever matter is in the form of a Solid the particles are so close together that they can't move, but are vibrating. Liquids are loose, but are still being held together, and are moving slowly away from each other. Gases are the opposite of Solids, they are forced apart, and are constantly moving away from each other. |
energy
Energy can be made, and passes, through the ecosystem, by animals or plants. When ever energy is given to the plants by the sun it's then transferred to animals, and finally turned into heat in the ground, then the cycle restarts.
